Have You Checked Your Blood Pressure Lately?

High blood pressure can develop anytime.
Have you been under a lot of stress lately?
One of my dear friends has recently taken on the role of caregiver for her aging relatives. The stress level has resulted in her blood pressure climbing.
Fortunately, the tragedy of losing her sister too soon (to untreated high blood pressure) has made her painfully aware that denial, and lack of treatment can be a deadly combination.
Facing a health robbing condition, she knows that she needs to evaluate her options and take action immediately.
So far she has been much better about getting out and walking each day. She can’t change the stress that revolves around her, but she can choose to be gentle with herself.
The biggest challenge, she has found, is cutting back on red wine in the evening. It is such a comfort, and really seems to help the stress so much, that she has had a hard time keeping it under control.
Each day is a new day. Each day she faces the challenge.
I don’t worry about her. She is aware that she needs to make changes, and she is always making new goals for herself.
Just because you have not had health issues in the past, is no guarantee that you will not develop high blood pressure tomorrow.
It is a good idea, with the current economic state, to pay a little extra attention to your blood pressure.

- Do you eat your foods mostly cooked, or raw?
- Are you a habitual user of stimulants?
- How easy is it for you to express your emotions?

Relax! Do You Sweat the Small Stuff?
November 18, 2008 by Carrie Tucker

Recovering my computer this past weekend (again) sure didn’t feel like the small stuff. In the big picture, it isn’t something I will remember next week.
“Relax!” I kept telling myself. Yet I kept barking at my kids, and I could feel the tension creeping up the back of my neck.
Finally, I’d had enough of myself (and so had my kids), so I sat myself down to be still in silence. Twenty minutes later, I felt a whole lot better.
Most people don’t relax unconsciously.
Do you get anxious if you aren’t watching television, or listening to music, or reading a book, or busy with some other distraction?
If you will be still in silence, you will become aware of the tension that lives in your body. That is, IF you can stand the stillness long enough to let yourself become aware of it.
This stored tension will squeeze the life out of you if you don’t release it!
The only way to keep up with it, is to practice relaxing. I know it seems strange that you should have to practice, but that is the only way to let go of the tension your muscles are storing. The conscious effort to release it, is well worth the effort. (Yes effort, see how hard it is to sit with yourself!?)
So if you DO sweat the small stuff………

Why Is Sleep So Important?

Why are American’s so proud of sleep deprivation?
Do you take pride in working yourself to death?
Sleep is SO important, because the fuel we burn is electricity, and you only make it while you sleep.
Out of gas? Need coffee and other stimulants just to get through the day?
Change your attitude about sleep, and fill your gas tank.
It is this low fuel level that begins the process of all disease. No matter what your diagnosis, your sickness began by neglecting to provide your body with the fuel it needs to do it’s job each day.
ALL Diseases follow a process that has 7 stages ending in cancer.
Often the disease process will kill us before it reaches this final stage, but never the less, all disease follows the same progression.
The best way to prevent ALL disease is to get PLENTY of sleep, and stop dis-ease, before it advances and becomes uncomfortable and dangerous.
The 7 Stages of Disease
- nervous exhaustion (not enough fuel)
- toxicity (resulting from lack of energy)
- irritation (from building toxicity)
- inflammation (that’s when you feel it!)
- ulceration (toxicity eats away at tissues)
- induration (your body tries to encapsulate the toxicity to protect itself)
- cancer (when the cells of your harmonious organism turn against you)
Unfortunately, lots of damage is occurring way up at stage four, inflammation. Most health care providers do not recognize disease until it has advanced to inflammation and is causing discomfort. At this point, interfering with your bodies attempt to do some house cleaning (detoxifying)will only further advance your disease. Build your health BEFORE you lose it if you have the choice. However, it is NEVER too late to start building your health. Do you want to feel better? What can you do?
- Reduce and then stop using stimulants.
You don’t want to stop cold turkey if you are using stimulants habitually. It could be harmful. Wean yourself away slowly so your body doesn’t notice. The QUALITY of your sleep will improve!
- Sleep 8 hours a night.
If you have a sleep debt, it may take quite some time to catch up, so you may need more sleep for a while. If you stop breathing while you sleep, it is important to have a sleep study done.
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and try to eat foods in as close to their natural state as possible.
This will conserve energy, while giving you the building blocks you need without adding unnecessary toxicity for your body to deal with. Supplements may also be helpful.
- EXERCISE everyday!
If your health is already significantly compromised then you need to RESPECT your limits. Your “exercise” ability may be no more than a walk down your hallway, or maybe lifting your arms and legs while remaining seated. With robust health, be just as active as you can!
- If you suspect low oxygen level, monitor closely and treat ALL occurrence of oxygen levels below 92% with supplemental oxygen.
Building health is impossible if your body is oxygen starved.
- Relax in quiet stillness daily.
Release tension or it will squeeze the life out of you.
- Build your breath!
Once you get rid of tension, you can work at more effectively using your lungs. The size of your breath will determine the quality and length of your life.
- Avoid dehydration!
Sip water all day everyday. That goes for everyone but those with kidney failure. Water is necessary for life! Retained water is trapped and not useful. Sipping water will give you what you need, and encourage your body to release trapped fluid. (If you have kidney trouble you should drink NOTHING BUT WATER for ALL the fluid you are allowed.) If you are retaining excessive fluid, USE OXYGEN to help reverse it. You need to attend to your diet by adding whole foods and removing processed foods. It is not enough to cut down on salt and saturated fat.
- Get exposure to direct sunlight daily.
Vitamin D is very important to health, and you can maintain healthy levels with sunshine, though it is suggested that you have your level checked if you are having ANY issues. There are many more benefits of sunlight. The skin cancer scare is real, but so is the health draining problem of insufficient natural light.
- Laugh, laugh, laugh!
It truly is the BEST medicine.
Many blessings,
Carrie

Fluid Retention Steals Your Health, Want To Stop It?
November 3, 2008 by Carrie Tucker
Filed under COPD- Lung Disease, Choice, Diabetes, Happiness, Heart, High Blood Pressure, Sleep Apnea, Water Retention
Fluid retention is such a big problem because the extra water in your system is in the way! Oxygen and vital nutrients can’t get where they need to go!
When oxygen and other vital nutrients cant’ get where they need to go, you deteriorate!
If you don’t want your health to fade, watch for signs that you may be retaining water:
- When you press your fingernail firmly into your thumb-pad, does it stay deeply dented for more than a second or two?
- When you press the tip of your finger into the inside of your shinbone, does your nail make a dent?
- Do your ankles ever swell?
- Does your shoe size increase as you get older?
- Do your rings sometimes not fit?
- Is your tummy ever tight and swollen?
- For women, do you suffer from breast tenderness?
- Does your weight fluctuate by several pound within the space of only twenty-four hours?
You should be concerned if you recognize water retention symptoms, even if your doctor isn’t!
If your symptoms are mild, make sure you pay close attention to: Read more
