What Do Stiff Necks and Asthma Have To Do With Heart Failure?

Are asthma and stiff necks related?

What the heck do either of them have to do with heart failure?

Asthma is considered to be a disease that inflames and narrows the airways.  When your airways are inflamed and narrow, you usually wheeze.

However, it is good to know that some people don’t really “wheeze”, they just stop moving air through their lungs.

When your health care provider listens to your lungs they may assume that your lungs are “clear” (or “good to go”), when in fact they are hearing an absence of air flow.

NO AIR FLOW IS MUCH WORSE THAN NOISY AIR FLOW!

Your lungs must move air or you are sunk!

Are you aware that your stiff neck is caused by the same type of inflammatory process that causes wheezing? Read more

If You Wheeze, Do You Have Asthma?

Does wheezing mean that you have asthma?  Good question.

Your doctor will diagnose you with asthma when you have wheezing that reoccurs over an extended period of time.

You just have “reactive airways” when you wheeze with a cold, and it goes away.  When you return to your doctor complaining of ongoing wheezing, you are eventually considered “asthmatic”.

Asthma is considered to be a disease that “inflames and narrows the airways”.

It is commonly accepted that asthma is not curable, and it lies dormant waiting to flare up at anytime.

The treatment for asthma is a combination of oral and inhaled medication to make your airways less inflamed.

Recently advisors to the FDA recommended that the drugs, salmeterol (Serevent) and formoterol (Foradil), not be used for young children and there is concern for young adults.

They want the drugs used for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but not asthma.

These drugs are considered to carry too high a risk for asthma-related complications and death!

These drugs have been used routinely to TREAT asthma and COPD for years.  Now they are saying that they are just too dangerous when used without steroids.

Steroids are used to reduce inflammation.

Does any of that make sense to you?

Heck, doesn’t make any sense to me, and I have been taking care of asthma patients for well over 20 years.

So if you wheeze, DO you have asthma?

Do you have a disease you will have to medicate the rest of your life?

Maybe you do, and maybe you don’t.

You certainly DO have the power to reduce inflammation, and you can do it without dangerous drugs!

Less inflammation is always a good thing.

However,

There is a bigger issue here that we need to talk about.

  1. Wheezing can also be caused by fluid in the lungs.
  2. There are a variety of reasons that you might have fluid in your lungs.
  3. Fluid in your lungs is a cause for major concern.  The cause of your fluid imbalance should be identified as soon as possible!

Heart Failure is often diagnosed as asthma!

Low oxygen levels are a huge concern!

Oxygen and other essential nutrients can not be transported where they need to go when you have excess fluid interfering with the process!

Even if you don’t have heart failure, fluid retention robs your health.

So if you are wheezing, you are definitely experiencing inflammation and narrowing of your airways.

Whether you actually have asthma or not, how do you reduce the inflammation and your wheezing?

I’ll tell you how!

You reduce wheezing and inflammation by helping your body to become more alkaline and less acidic.

There are many schools of thought on how you do this.

Keep the basics in mind and you will go a long way to reducing inflammation.

To Reduce Inflammation:

  • Remember that only fresh fruits and vegetables and fresh fruit and vegetable juices become alkaline in your body.  Everything else is acid forming.
  • Drink plenty of water and/or fresh fruit juice.
  • Avoid prepared fruit juice and soda.
  • Eat nuts raw, not roasted.
  • Keep your meat and dairy consumption to a minimum.
  • Sit for a few minutes in quiet stillness daily.
  • Breathe deeply 30–40 times everyday.
  • Get plenty of sustained activity.
  • Choose peace and happiness.

If you reduce inflammation, you will reduce the incidence and severity of your wheezing and shortness of breath.

Your joint pain will diminish.

You will sleep better.

Your mental irritability will decrease, and your attitude will improve.

If you wheeze, do you have asthma?

Reduce your inflammation and find out if your wheezing goes away.

If you have severe swelling at your ankles, and you have just been diagnosed with asthma, get a second opinion!

Many blessings,

Carrie

Do You Use Cough Medicine?

December 3, 2008 by Carrie Tucker

Well doesn’t everybody?

Isn’t it a harmless over the counter cold medicine?

Over the counter cold medicine is ANYTHING but harmless!

The chemical makeup of cough medicine can be very problematic.  When you are coughing up mucus, it is because your body is over loaded with toxicity, and needs to clean house.

Now wait a minute.  I can hear you thinking,

“Are you saying that germs don’t cause the common cold?”

Actually, that is exactly what I am saying.  If your immune system is up to snuff, no “germ” will “attack” you.

If germs caused the common cold, then everyone would get sick EVERY TIME they were exposed to germs.

So if you get a “cold” it is because your immune system is weakened.

In fact, snot and fever are a couple of ways that your body attempts to purify your system and strengthen your immune system.

Cough medicine is more harmful than beneficial to children.

Even if you aren’t a child, your cough is necessary to clear your lungs.  If you suppress your cough, Read more

Why Is Sleep So Important?

November 14, 2008 by Carrie Tucker
Filed under Asthma, Depression, Diabetes, Happiness, Heart, Sleep, Sleep Apnea

For the Sunlight article on Wikipedia. Origina...

Why are American’s so proud of sleep deprivation?

Do you take pride in working yourself to death?

Sleep is SO important, because the fuel we burn is electricity, and you only make it while you sleep.

Out of gas?  Need coffee and other stimulants just to get through the day?

Change your attitude about sleep, and fill your gas tank.

It is this low fuel level that begins the process of all disease.  No matter what your diagnosis, your sickness began by neglecting to provide your body with the fuel it needs to do it’s job each day.

ALL Diseases follow a process that has 7 stages ending in cancer.

Often the disease process will kill us before it reaches this final stage, but never the less, all disease follows the same progression.

The best way to prevent ALL disease is to get PLENTY of sleep, and stop dis-ease, before it advances and becomes uncomfortable and dangerous.

The 7 Stages of Disease

  1. nervous exhaustion (not enough fuel)
  2. toxicity (resulting from lack of energy)
  3. irritation (from building toxicity)
  4. inflammation (that’s when you feel it!)
  5. ulceration (toxicity eats away at tissues)
  6. induration (your body tries to encapsulate the toxicity to protect itself)
  7. cancer (when the cells of your harmonious organism turn against you)

Unfortunately, lots of damage is occurring way up at stage four, inflammation.  Most health care providers do not recognize disease until it has advanced to inflammation and is causing discomfort. At this point, interfering with your bodies attempt to do some house cleaning (detoxifying)will only further advance your disease. Build your health BEFORE you lose it if you have the choice.  However, it is NEVER too late to start building your health. Do you want to feel better? What can you do?

  • Reduce and then stop using stimulants.

You don’t want to stop cold turkey if you are using stimulants habitually.  It could be harmful.  Wean yourself away slowly so your body doesn’t notice.  The QUALITY of your sleep will improve!

  • Sleep 8 hours a night.

If you have a sleep debt, it may take quite some time to catch up, so you may need more sleep for a while.  If you stop breathing while you sleep, it is important to have a sleep study done.

  • Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and try to eat foods in as close to their natural state as possible.

This will conserve energy, while giving you the building blocks you need without adding unnecessary toxicity for your body to deal with. Supplements may also be helpful.

  • EXERCISE everyday!

If your health is already significantly compromised then you need to RESPECT your limits.  Your “exercise” ability may be no more than a walk down your hallway, or maybe lifting your arms and legs while remaining seated. With robust health, be just as active as you can!

  • If you suspect low oxygen level, monitor closely and treat ALL occurrence of oxygen levels below 92% with supplemental oxygen.

Building health is impossible if your body is oxygen starved.

  • Relax in quiet stillness daily.

Release tension or it will squeeze the life out of you.

  • Build your breath!

Once you get rid of tension, you can work at more effectively using your lungs.  The size of your breath will determine the quality and length of your life.

  • Avoid dehydration!

Sip water all day everyday.  That goes for everyone but those with kidney failure.  Water is necessary for life!  Retained water is trapped and not useful.  Sipping water will give you what you need, and encourage your body to release trapped fluid.  (If you have kidney trouble you should drink NOTHING BUT WATER for ALL the fluid you are allowed.) If you are retaining excessive fluid, USE OXYGEN to help reverse it.  You need to attend to your diet by adding whole foods and removing processed foods.  It is not enough to cut down on salt and saturated fat.

  • Get exposure to direct sunlight daily.

Vitamin D is very important to health, and you can maintain healthy levels with sunshine, though it is suggested that you have your level checked if you are having ANY issues. There are many more benefits of sunlight.  The skin cancer scare is real, but so is the health draining problem of insufficient natural light.

  • Laugh, laugh, laugh!

It truly is the BEST medicine.

Many blessings,

Carrie

How Important Is Oxygen?

Oxygen

If you have low oxygen levels you are dying.

Denial is not effective treatment for low oxygen levels.  Even if you “feel okay”.

Oxygen hitches a ride on your red blood cells in order to travel around your body.  If your oxygen level is too low (below 92%) the oxygen molecules can’t make the leap.  The pressure is too low.

When your oxygen level is below 92%, the oxygen that is in your blood cruises around in your circulation but the pressure isn’t high enough for it to actually get where it is needed.

Want to improve low oxygen levels? Read more
