Don’t you feel great when you plan ahead and prepare healthy foods for on the go?

The good food choices keep you feeling your best.  Being prepared and having all your bases covered feels great as well.

Have a few hectic days in a row, and it really exhausts your reserves.  Grab unhealthy fast food and keep a frantic pace for even one day and you are running on empty, have several in a row and it creates a deficit that can be hard to recover from.

Once you establish a new healthy diet plan it will create continued success only so long as you stick with it.

Sue lost 120 pounds over about 2 years.

She was so proud of her accomplishment!

Sue knew that she would never go back to the way she used to live.  Her new life was worth all the difficult changes she’d made.  She would gladly trade all those comfort foods that used to be so much a part of her day, for the friends and activities that now crowded her busy schedule.

Life as Sue had become accustomed to it ended abruptly one night when she answered the phone and found out that her father had experienced a major health crisis and her family was gathering at his bedside.

The next morning she bought tickets and made arrangements for the trip back to her parents home in Montana.

Her sister picked her up at the airport and 2 weeks of emotional highs and lows followed.  Sue was glad to have the support of her family, but she still found herself needing those familiar comfort foods she had given up to reach her goal weight.  She was worried about the pounds she was packing back on, but figured she would have to deal with it once she could return to some sort of normalcy.

At the funeral, Sue just could not stop eating.  All the foods of her childhood where spread out on a table, and the raw heart ache from losing her father had her reeling.

On the flight back home the following morning, Sue felt puffy and bloated as well as heavy with grief.  She looked forward to getting back to a routine.

Coming home was certainly comforting.  But Sue was surprised to find that she had cravings that drove her crazy.  It wasn’t as easy to step back into the regiment that she had created for the 2 years of successful weight loss.

Her heart was aching, and it seemed to cause an appetite for all the wrong foods and it was next to impossible to ignore the relentless cravings!

Green Smoothies were something Sue had always resisted.  She didn’t mind eating wholesome foods, but the thought of blending them up and drinking them made her want to gag.

She began to give the disgusting green drink more thought when one of her friends shared her testimonial about complete relief from cravings almost immediately after starting Green Smoothies.

Sue almost hated to admit it when her cravings stopped after her very first Green Smoothie.  She wasn’t enjoying chewing her breakfast every morning, but hey whatever works!

The pain of grieving kept Sue using Emotional Freedom Technique to work through her most difficult times, but those Green Smoothies were the secret weapon that kept her from sabotaging herself with comfort food.

When you get off on the wrong track, Green Smoothies can rescue your healthy diet plan!

Are you living your purpose?

It is tough to drag yourself out of bed in the morning if you don’t feel driven by your purpose.

Whether you have found your purpose, or you are still looking for it, you need to focus on the desires of your heart.

The desires of your heart will always call you to your purpose.

A nagging urge that you aren’t doing what you should be doing can get really uncomfortable.

  • Do you sometimes get irritable without knowing why?

  • Do you dislike down time?

Would a List of High Fiber Foods Motivate You To Eat Better?

That list of high fiber foods is the all star lineup for your healthy diet plan!

High fiber foods can help you to lose weight, prevent constipation, diabetes, and heart disease, help reduce your risk of high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, obesity, hemorrhoids, some cancers, high blood sugar, and it keeps your digestive system working properly.

Awesome foods, wouldn’t you say?

All plant foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds and beans, have fiber. But all fiber is not the same. Fiber can be divided into two categories and they have different effects on your body.

Soluble fiber is found in dried beans, peas, oats and oat bran, flaxseed and psyllium husks. It’s also found in fruits such as oranges and apples and vegetables like carrots.

Soluble fiber binds with fatty acids in your stomach and prolongs digestion time, helping to regulate blood sugar.

Studies also show that soluble fiber can help reduce your overall cholesterol count. But what’s even more important, soluble fiber lowers your LDL, which is considered to be bad cholesterol.

Insoluble fiber is found in whole wheat, wheat bran, vegetables such as cauliflower and green beans and the skins of fruits and root vegetables.

Insoluble fiber helps remove toxins from your colon and balance intestinal acidity. It also helps move waste through your bowel.

The recommended total daily fiber intake for adults is 30 to 40 grams. But most Americans get only about 10 grams of fiber a day.

Print this page out and post it on your refrigerator, or go grab a pen and paper!  You’ll want to refer to this list until you have memorized your go-to foods.

Have You Asked Yourself: How Much Am I Supposed To Weigh?

Eighty percent of 10 year old girls in the USA go on a diet.

Why?

When you look in the mirror do you like what you see?

Unfortunately, if you are like most people, that is an uncomfortable question to answer.

I mean, even if you like what you see, does it make you feel arrogant to say … yes, I like what I see in the mirror.

Or perhaps if you are unhappy about being over weight, when you look at someone else who “looks good”, you feel unpleasant feelings of envy arise within you.

Jill was very unhappy when I met her.  She was the new licensed practical nurse hired to cared for Mr. Mendes, a heart failure patient that I had been taking care of for many years.

One afternoon while Mr. Mendes was sleeping I stopped by to check up on the two of them.  Since Jill had some time on her hands we decided to enjoy a cup of tea together.

During our conversation, she expressed how frustrating it was for her to understand the diet restrictions that Mr. Mendes’ daughter had instructed her to adhere to when planning his meals.

“I think it is cruel to deprive him of foods that the rest of the family is eating”, she said. Read more

Should You Avoid Kombucha Tea?

Why take chances with your health?

Dr. Brent a Bauer, an internist at the Mayo Clinic says:

“until definitive studies quantify the risks and benefits of Kombucha tea, it’s prudent to avoid it.”

Dr. Bauer says that there are no studies you can trust.

Well duh, Dr. Bauer.  Nobody is going to get rich selling Kombucha.  I mean, there are successful companies selling Kombucha, but they are not BIG business.

Big Pharma really likes LARGE profit.  Much much larger than the natural foods companies are making.  Any study that proves the value of Kombucha could only damage their sales.

You might not find research studies on Kombucha, but you can find LOTS of personal testimonials.

I’d love to share my personal Kombucha story!

About 6 years ago, I found out that I was expecting another baby.  My daughters were 8 and 11 years old, so the thought of starting over again made me feel a bit weary.  I wasn’t nearly as overwhelmed as my doctor was though!

I had been living with auto immune symptoms for about 7 years, and my doctor insisted that I terminate the pregnancy.  She was convinced that I would have a tough time carrying a child to term and an even tougher time raising one with my health issues.

Since I just could not come to terms with killing my unborn child, I decided against abortion.

Much to my surprise, my symptoms of pain and stiffness began to fade and then vanished over the course of my pregnancy.  I had been managing my symptoms with diet, supplements and exercise fairly well, but about half way through my pregnancy, it was evident that I was not living with the symptoms any more.

I was healed by pregnancy!

Unfortunately, I had another issue to deal with.  From conception, I was unable to hold food down very well.  Eating was definitely a challenge.  I had to force myself to eat, and then it usually came back up.

It was a long haul, but the morning after my little guy was born, my appetite returned to normal.  However, the 9 months had taken a huge toll on my body.

My little boy was a high maintenance baby, and I had very little help since I lived in a very isolated area.  Within 2 months, I got very sick with an abscess in my neck.

After a short hospitalization and VERY powerful antibiotics I was on the mend.  Unfortunately, the antibiotics had totally wiped out my normal healthy gut flora.

I began to bleed from my rectum!

My doctor recommended surgery, but I was not about to agree to that without looking for alternatives.

While chatting with a neighbor at a community picnic, I heard about the magic of Kombucha tea.  I went directly to the natural food store and bought my first bottle.

YUCK!  The stuff tasted like vinegar!  But hey, I’d try anything, so I kept with it.  After a while the tea didn’t taste so bad, and much to my surprise I really began to enjoy it!

The bleeding from my bowel stopped completely.  I was thrilled to have found such an easy fix to such a worrisome problem.

I found that if I ate processed foods or sugar, that the bleeding would start again.  However, if I avoided sugar, ate whole foods, and made sure to get several large doses of Kombucha tea each week, I continued to heal.

Today, I crave Kombucha tea even though my bowel issues are long gone!  I always keep it around for its nurturing benefits and it’s great for symptoms of indigestion.  Even my kids know that if their tummy hurts, Kombucha tea will help.

This is just my story, but you can find many testimonials online from thrilled people who have discovered this powerful healing elixer.

Dr. Bauer sites homemade Kombucha as being dangerous because it has the potential for contamination.  You can purchase quality Kombucha from many natural foods companies.  My favorite is GT’s Synergy Kombucha.

If your budget will not support plenty of commercial Kombucha, then check out the information and starter kits that are available online.

Back to the question I asked you in the beginning of this post ….

Why take chances with your health?

Dr. Fred Bloem recently sent me an email message that shines a light on just how willing those in power are to take chances with your health.

Dr. Bloem says: Read more

Oprah is talking about the source of our food!

This subject has been close to my heart for 20 years.  However, I am not quick to talk about it since I have not had much positive feedback around the subject over the years.

Twenty years ago I was a weirdo!

Now it seems that the Oprah Effect will make this subject fashionable.  Three cheers for Oprah!
